Merry Wives of Windsor Performance

  • ND Heritage Center and State Museum Prairie Outdoor Amphitheatre Bismarck, ND 58501 USA (map)

Come and join us for Capitol Shakespeare’s 15 Summer Season!

Free Performances of the comedy Merry Wives of Windsor will be performed on the ND Heritage Center and State Museum’s Prairie Amphitheatre.

Performances start at 7pm nightly with a very short cutting of 12th Night performed by our Young Bards. Merry Wives of Windsor will begin directly after.

Merry Wives of Windsor is as close to a farce as Shakespeare wrote. There is lots of laughs, intrigue, mistaken identity, and trickery in the show. It follows the story of Mistress Page and Mistress Ford who want to play a trick on Mistress Page’s husband to teach him a lesson about his jealousy. They convince Sir John Falstaff to come to a secret rendezvous with Mistress Ford and then everything begins to unravel for him and he ends up hidden in a laundry basket, a closet, dressed as a woman, and lured to a forest where he is pinched by “fairies”. It is a hilarious show that will certainly make you laugh and giggle.

The show will be set in the 1950’s to give a modern take on the classic story.
