Young Bards

Capitol Shakespeare’s youth theater program, The Young Bards, will work with a highly qualified guest director each year to create a production based on one or more of Shakespeare's plays.

The Young Bards program seeks to train young actors in methods of expression and interpretation of classical text.  Students will learn and grow in their understanding of theater, iambic pentameter, physical expression, and emotional commitment to a character. They will perform prior to the Main Stage performances on Wednesday through Saturday and an indoor matinee on Sunday at the Russell Reid auditorium of the ND Heritage Center and State Museum.

The Young Bards aligns the curriculum used to instruct students to the National Arts Standards.

The Young Bards program will be directed by Stephanie Jorritsma this summer. Stephanie is a graduate of the University of Jamestown and a former member of Capitol Shakespeare’s youth theatre programming. She has also been involved in summer productions on the main stage at Capitol Shakespeare.
